Everything but tax cuts

You'd think a province with a slightly conservative government, no debt, enourmous revenues, and a projected 1.5B surplus would cut taxes, but you'd be wrong. Alberta is ramping up spending in a major way, but taxpayers are getting the shaft.

    This reminds me somewhat of the spending spree in SK in the 70s when grain prices were high. Granted, AB doesn't have to worry about a sudden huge decline in the price of oil, but spending on roads and hospitals this year also means spending on maintaining and upgrading in years to come, when budget surplus might not be so large...

    This is a crummy budget. Taxes should be lower, health care premiuims should be gone.
